Be The Best Sport Plays at CW Post Halftime Game
On January 25, Be The Best Sport’s Basketball team played at halftime at the CW Post vs Queens College Division 2 basketball game. Players from the basketball program played their hearts out in what was a very close 10 minute halftime game with a score of 10-6. Players included: Gabe Corzo, Peter Giannios, Anthony Garcia, Marc Purcell, Andrew Goldberg, Ryan Vella, Ryan Hason, Nicholas Petri, Jake Koukou, Kate Brown Andrew Gillette, and Daniel Albeg.
CW Post Head Basketball Coach Erik Smiles and Coordinator of Athletic Operations & Special Events Melissa Harris were instrumental in setting up this event which allowed the athletes to take part in a once in a lifetime opportunity and be the stars of the halftime event. We thank them for their efforts and the hard work they put in to making the event memorable for the players and their families. “All of the players and the parents were very excited when we were given the opportunity to play at C.W. Post”, Head Coach John Petitto mentioned, “We were very grateful to see all of the support we received from the fans, parents and the C.W. Post staff.”
Be The Best Sport is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization focused on the athletic development of children with special needs. The basketball team is comprised of players from all over the NY area and the team has been playing together under Head Coach John Petitto for over 2 years. The team competes yearly in the Spring Long Island Special Olympics basketball competitions, where they won several gold medals, as well as in a competitive Long Island league each week.
